On April 1, 2018 the name of MUFG’s commercial bank changed from “The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.” to “MUFG Bank, Ltd.” Many of the bank’s overseas subsidiaries followed suit on the same day, but branches and subsidiaries in some countries will carry out the name change at a later date. MUFG’s New York Stock Exchange ticker symbol has also changed to “MUFG.”

MUFG Bank is one of the oldest Japanese companies operating in Turkey through a representative office that opened in 1986 under the name of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU). In December 2012, BTMU obtained approval to establish a banking subsidiary in Turkey, a country of significant geostrategic importance serving as a bridge between Europe and Asia. Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Turkey A.Ş. (BTMU Turkey) started operation in November 2013. As of April 2018 Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Turkey A.Ş. changed its name to MUFG Bank Turkey A.Ş. This change is designed to help our customers understand our membership of MUFG, one of the world’s leading financial groups. We are committed to improving collaboration and partnership across the MUFG network in order to offer our customers a market-leading range of integrated services within the scope of local regulations, and our change of name will support this.

MUFG Bank Turkey continues to serve its Japanese and non-Japanese corporate customers in Turkey by providing customer oriented, value-added services and excellent operations, and full use of MUFG’s global network.

MUFG Bank Turkey A.Ş. was established in November 2013 with the name “Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Turkey A.Ş”. Even though the establishment of our Bank sounds to be new, we have shared the journey of development with Turkey for more than a quarter of a century, dating back to 1986 when our parent bank constituted a representative office in Istanbul.
